The Career Pathways Coach for Public Sector serves as a vital resource for students at the University of Florida (UF), focusing on delivering comprehensive career planning services tailored to specific career clusters, particularly in Business, Public Service, and Tourism. This role involves facilitating both individual and group career planning sessions, ensuring that undergraduate and graduate students receive the guidance they need to navigate their career pathways effectively. The coach will conduct personalized career planning appointments, offer drop-in services, and lead small group coaching sessions aimed at students interested in public service careers. In addition to one-on-one coaching, the Career Coach will design and implement customized career and leadership education workshops, which may include for-credit course materials and large group programs. These workshops will incorporate elements of the Career Action Plan and career development theories, ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their chosen fields. The coach will also provide direct services through center-wide series and cohort programs that focus on the professionalization of students, adapting existing marketing materials and resources to meet the needs of specific career pathway populations. The role requires active engagement with employers to facilitate their participation in industry education activities related to the public sector, such as workshops, outreach events, and conferences. The Career Coach will collaborate with team managers to develop programs that connect students with industry professionals, while also maintaining quantitative and qualitative records of various interactions for assessment and reporting purposes. This data will be crucial in demonstrating the impact of the career services provided. Additionally, the coach will stay informed about current career development trends to ensure that the services offered are relevant and effective. Administrative duties are also a key component of this position, including coordinating outreach efforts, managing logistical functions for career education programming, and participating in departmental and university-wide committees. The Career Coach will report directly to the Sr. Associate Director for Integrated Career Solutions and is expected to embody the values of the Career Connections Center in all aspects of their work.
