About the position

The Career Pathways Coach for Public Sector at the University of Florida serves as a vital resource for students pursuing careers in public service, business, and tourism. This role involves delivering personalized and group career planning services, facilitating workshops, and engaging with employers to enhance student career development. The coach will implement career action plans, maintain records of student engagement, and support outreach efforts to promote career services within the university community.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual and group career planning services to UF students within specific career clusters.
  • Facilitate customized career and leadership education workshops and large group programs for students.
  • Implement the Career Action Plan and career development theory elements in workshops and programs.
  • Provide direct service or coaching through center-wide series and cohort programs focused on professionalization.
  • Customize marketing materials and resources for specific career pathway populations.
  • Coordinate outreach administration and logistical functions to support career education programming.
  • Engage with employers to facilitate their participation in industry education activities related to the public sector.
  • Develop programs to connect students with industry in collaboration with team managers.
  • Maintain quantitative and qualitative records for assessment and reporting purposes.
  • Participate in department, division, and university-wide committees.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
  • Two years of experience in stakeholder engagement, marketing, sales, career development, career counseling, or HR.
  • Knowledge of industry relations, employment trends, student development, career services, marketing, and outreach strategies.
  • Skilled in computer applications and facilitative skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Career Services Practitioner (CCSP) to be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • Experience working inclusively with diverse populations.
