About the position

The Career Pathways Intern will support the Economic Recovery & Livelihood sector by assisting clients in assessing their eligibility and readiness for career development programs. This part-time, unpaid internship involves creating personalized career development plans, preparing clients for job applications, and facilitating group coaching sessions. The intern will also engage in outreach to recruit participants and provide ongoing support throughout the job search process.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting pre-enrollment assessments to help build career development plans with actionable and realistic goals.
  • Support clients in preparing resumes, searching for job opportunities, and practicing interview skills.
  • Provide individual mentorship under supervision for resume writing, interview preparation, job search techniques, and other career advancement skills.
  • Help facilitate group coaching sessions focused on advanced work readiness and employability skills.
  • Aid in networking efforts and assist with job application reviews.
  • Accompany clients to job preparation activities, interviews, and job site tours, and provide support to help them attend these events independently in the future.
  • Collaborate with team members and departments to support IRC clients through effective communication.
  • Participate in outreach efforts to identify and engage clients eligible for career development programs.
  • Provide support to clients with post-placement issues and ongoing career development needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and a willingness to learn industry-specific practices.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and basic database management.
  • Creative and strategic thinking to overcome barriers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in a second language preferred (e.g., Spanish, Dari/Pashto).
