About the position

The Career Pathways Navigator at Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) is responsible for supporting youth in their academic and career development goals. This role involves connecting youth with essential resources, providing guidance on education and career skill-building, and helping them navigate systemic challenges within the education system. The Navigator will work closely with various educational and community partners to facilitate opportunities for youth and advocate for their needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide connections to educational and career resources.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with key schools, districts, and County Office of Education partners.
• Support partnership development with community-based organizations providing academic and career support services.
• Maintain connections with local employers to generate opportunities for youth.
• Share community resources with youth including other FLY programs and opportunities.
• Conduct assessments of youth interests, values, and skills.
• Facilitate career and education-related workshops for youth.
• Check in with youth on school and career exploration progress and wellbeing.
• Help youth get career exposure and advancement opportunities.
• Provide insight on education laws, policies, and practices affecting students.
• Advocate in readmission hearings to support youth reintegrating into traditional high schools.
• Remind youth about upcoming workshops and track data and attendance records.
• Enter youth check-ins, attendance, and demographics into FLY's data entry database.

Requirements

• Mid-level leadership experience (under 1 year).
• Commitment to social, racial, and economic justice.
• Passion for education and career exploration.
• Knowledge of the school-to-prison pipeline.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in community outreach or youth services.
• Bilingual skills in English and another language.
