About the position

The Career Readiness Coach at Austin Peay State University is a full-time professional staff role within the College of Business Student Success Center. This position serves as a liaison to the university's Office of Career Services, focusing on implementing career programming and services for students and alumni. The coach will support career readiness initiatives and represent both the College of Business and Career Services at various events.

Responsibilities

  • Offer practical assistance with job searching, applications/CVs, and interview preparations.
  • Aid students in their search for appropriate employment and internship opportunities.
  • Write program proposals, action plans, needs assessments, reports, and grant writing as requested.
  • Oversee general administration of office, calendar, and walk-in hours.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Career Services to engage in new employer development activities.
  • Increase student participation in career fairs and events, employer information sessions, and overall career readiness sessions.
  • Deliver workshops and training sessions for students and alumni.
  • Create and market services for students and alumni, including programs and employer visits.
  • Conduct class presentations and work with faculty to determine programming topics.
  • Provide students with relevant occupational, educational, and employment information.
  • Educate and improve student preparedness for the job and internship search process.
  • Increase awareness and participation in internship opportunities.
  • Help students solve problems and manage their own careers.
  • Provide employers with information on employer services and how to post positions and register for Career Fairs.
  • Assist employers with entering internship and employment information.
  • Attend at least one professional association conference annually.
  • Participate and deliver training on Career Services' technologies offered to faculty/staff.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings with the Office of Career Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field of study.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in Human Resources, Career Services at a University/College, Recruitment, and/or Training & Development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, or MBA.
  • NACE, Certified Career Coach (BCC or CCE)
