About the position
The Career Readiness Specialist is responsible for providing engaging instruction to students in various employability skills, including resume writing, interviewing techniques, and job search strategies. This role involves evaluating student progress and ensuring that students are prepared for job placement or graduation from the program. The specialist will work closely with other instructors and counselors to meet the career development goals of the students.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction on resume writing, interviewing techniques, and job search strategies.
- Evaluate student progress and update Personal Career Development Plans.
- Assist students with job searches and applications, including attending job fairs.
- Implement and facilitate CTR curriculum and classroom instruction.
- Develop a monthly calendar of events related to career readiness and job placement.
- Coordinate off-center leaves for students with verified interviews.
- Ensure students are registered with local One-Stop centers during enrollment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in social or human services, education, counseling, or related field preferred.
- One year of related experience in sales, marketing, or counseling services.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Proficiency in common computer software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
