About the position

The Career Success Coach will lead one of the Center for Career Development's (CCD) industry-focused Career Communities, which serves as a collaborative space for students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and industry experts. This role is pivotal in coaching and advising students on their career development while enhancing engagement within the designated Career Community. The Career Success Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing tailored workshops, resources, programs, and events that cater to the needs of students and other stakeholders. In this position, the Career Success Coach will work cross-functionally with various CCD teams, including employer engagement, career and life design, operations, data, and marketing. Building strong relationships with relevant faculty, campus partners, professional associations, employers, and stakeholders is essential. The coach will also be responsible for industry-specific knowledge development and information sharing, coordinating with the CCD team to support engagement strategies, marketing, communication, and assessment of outcomes related to their Career Community. Essential functions include serving as the primary lead and campus representative for a designated Career Community, developing outreach efforts, and providing career coaching through individual appointments and programs. The coach will administer and interpret career-related assessments, build collaborative relationships with relevant departments, and represent the CCD at special events. Additionally, the role involves researching labor market trends, developing career materials, and engaging in professional development opportunities to remain current on best practices in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and represent a designated Career Community within the Center for Career Development.
  • Develop and implement outreach efforts, student programs, events, workshops, and presentations.
  • Provide career coaching for students through individual appointments and group programs.
  • Administer and interpret career-related assessments to identify students' values, interests, and skills.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with relevant schools, colleges, and university departments.
  • Meet regularly with key faculty, staff, and campus partners connected to industry areas.
  • Coordinate with the data team to collect and assess outcomes related to Career Community initiatives.
  • Research labor market trends and provide professional development to students and colleagues.
  • Develop and update career materials and resources in response to market trends.
  • Collaborate with the employer engagement team to support targeted relationship building and career education activities.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, or a similar field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Approximately 3-5 years of experience in career services, student affairs, or education administration.
  • Experience advising and coaching students in an educational setting.
  • Experience designing and delivering educational programs and workshops.
  • Experience managing projects and organizing events and programs.
  • Cultural competency and commitment to inclusion and equity for all students.
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to develop relationships with diverse constituents.
  • Exceptional communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and report on client and program data.
  • Eagerness to learn and utilize computer applications, systems, AI, and social media.
