The Career Success Coach will play a pivotal role in leading one of the Center for Career Development's (CCD) industry-focused Career Communities. This position is designed to foster a community of practice that includes students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and industry experts, all centered around areas of student career interest that transcend disciplinary boundaries. The primary responsibilities of the Career Success Coach will encompass coaching and advising students on their career development, enhancing engagement within the designated Career Community, and developing and implementing tailored workshops, resources, programs, and events that cater to the needs of the community. In this role, the Career Success Coach will work collaboratively with various CCD teams, including employer engagement, career and life design, operations, data, and marketing. Building strong relationships with relevant faculty, campus partners, professional associations, employers, and stakeholders connected to the selected industry area will be essential. The Career Success Coach will also be responsible for developing industry-specific knowledge and sharing information, coordinating with the CCD team to support engagement strategies, marketing and communication efforts, and the collection of assessment and outcome data for their Career Community. Essential functions of the position include serving as the primary lead and campus representative for a designated Career Community, developing outreach efforts, student programs, events, workshops, presentations, and services that connect students, faculty, staff, alumni, and employers around common areas of interest. The Career Success Coach will provide career coaching through individual appointments, drop-ins, and programs focused on career exploration, skill building, self-assessment, and strategies for employment or graduate study. Additionally, the role involves administering and interpreting career-related assessments to help students identify their values, interests, personality styles, skills, and strengths. The Career Success Coach will also be tasked with building and maintaining positive relationships with relevant schools, colleges, and university departments, with a particular focus on marginalized communities and Boston University's diverse student population. Regular meetings with key faculty, staff, and campus partners connected to industry areas will be necessary, as well as representing the CCD at special events and to designated departments, organizations, and groups. The role will require coordination with the data team to collect relevant data on initiatives, assess outcomes, measure success, and inform future initiatives. Researching labor market trends and industry information to provide professional development to students and colleagues will also be a key responsibility. Collaboration with the employer engagement team will be essential, providing input on outreach strategies, supporting targeted relationship building, and involving employers in career education activities aligned with student interests. The Career Success Coach will engage in professional development opportunities, including participation in local, regional, and national associations, to remain current on best practices and trends in the field, and may contribute to the profession through presenting, publishing, or serving on committees.
