The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Innovation Coach will be responsible for creating and leading the strategic vision for growing a world-class workforce for the diverse economy of Hamilton County. This position reports to the Future Ready Students Director and will work closely with surrounding post-secondary institutions, community workforce, and the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. The CTE Innovation Coach will play a significant role in ensuring that Hamilton County's CTE programs and teachers have the resources they need to provide the very best to students. This includes leading the Hamilton County Schools' Career and Technical Education programs at the district level by facilitating professional learning, planning, research, and modeling required for CTE teachers and leaders both at the district and building levels. The coach will work with the Director of Future Ready Students to provide high school CTE students with Early Post-Secondary Opportunities and Work-Based Learning opportunities within their CTE Program of Study, as well as career exploration opportunities for elementary and middle school students to help them identify their best fit for future plans.

Responsibilities

  • Development, execution, and oversight of the Hamilton County Schools Workforce and Career Pathways Strategic Plan.
  • Provides oversight for the creation and implementation of activities that enhance career awareness and selection for the future Hamilton County workforce through Hamilton County Schools.
  • Facilitation of business and industry sector councils for Hamilton County Schools' career clusters, including bi-annual meeting management and oversight for council goals.
  • Support Hamilton County Schools' institutional partnerships, connecting individuals with institutional contacts for admissions/enrollment.
  • Develop strong and meaningful relationships with employers, Hamilton County Schools teachers, local administrators, and other workforce development partners.
  • Make presentations to students, administrators, school board, industry councils, and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Coordinate Career Exploration and Career Awareness Expansion activities.
  • Manage CTE Leadership Ambassadors and Feeder School Career Experience Days.
  • Organize K-12 Career Fairs and the 8th Grade Get(Future)Ready Event.
  • Engage employers through Student Business and Industry Tours (virtual and in-person).
  • Oversee the Teacher Summer Externship Program and Work-Based Learning marketing to students, parents, and employers.
  • Support and train teachers on Work-Based Learning to enhance student performance.
  • Monitor Work-Based Learning Coordinators, programs, and placements.
  • Facilitate Early Post-Secondary Opportunities, including industry certifications and dual enrollment programs.
  • Analyze data to determine if performance standards and benchmarks are met and make recommendations for improvement plans.
  • Coordinate data collection for facility renovations needed to improve course sequences in Career and Technical Education.
  • Maintain working relationships with school staff, community, and state agencies to implement all aspects of the CTE programs.
  • Establish advisory committees as needed with community and state agencies and area business industries.
  • Assist career/technical teachers in program development, improvement, and review.
  • Provide Professional Development ensuring labor market information is used to inform all Programs of Study.
  • Train teachers, faculty, and specialized instructional support personnel to effectively teach students, including a focus on students with disabilities and English Learners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher required.
  • Active Tennessee Teaching License.
  • Three (3) or more years of successful experience teaching, preferably in a Career and Technical Education classroom.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
