About the position

The Caregiver position at Bios Corporation involves providing direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Caregivers, also known as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), assist clients in leading self-directed lives, promoting community inclusion, and performing daily living activities. This role is essential in fostering independence and enhancing the quality of life for those served.

Responsibilities

• Foster positive relationships between caretakers and individuals served.
• Ensure customer safety and maintain a safe environment.
• Remind and assist clients with self-administration of medications (with proper training).
• Encourage self-help activities.
• Document services provided.
• Perform home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning.
• Plan meals, shop for groceries, prepare and serve food/meals, and assist with feeding and clean-up.
• Accompany clients to scheduled appointments and transport clients or run errands for clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Prefer at least 2 years of professional caregiving or similar experience.
• Open and flexible availability.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Able to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license and current auto insurance.
• Clean, reliable vehicle.
• Clear criminal history record.
• Social Security Card or Birth Certificate.
