About the position

The Caregiver is responsible for providing personal assistance and routine daily care to residents in an Assisted Living or Memory Care setting. This role aims to enhance residents' independence and quality of life by assisting with daily activities and recreational programs. The Caregiver works under the direction of the Health Services Director and is integral to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents in their Activities of Daily Living (ADL) tasks such as bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
  • Respond promptly to residents' needs while maintaining their dignity and confidentiality.
  • Assist residents in and out of bed and wheelchair using safe lifting techniques.
  • Provide assistance during mealtime, including serving meals and clearing tables.
  • Encourage residents to participate in daily activities and maintain a safe environment.
  • Ensure residents are dressed and groomed appropriately.
  • Communicate any observed changes in residents' conditions to a supervisor.
  • Respond to resident alerts and carry a radio for communication.
  • Assist in planned activities and help residents prepare for social programs.
  • Complete resident care sign-off sheets at the end of each shift.
  • Help new residents acclimate to their surroundings and introduce them to others.
  • Assist Medication Aides as needed and follow safety procedures.
  • Display tact and friendliness in interactions with residents and families.
  • Attend scheduled in-service classes and staff meetings.
  • Maintain required certifications and support marketing efforts through positive interactions.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all staff, residents, and guests.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work patiently with cognitively impaired individuals.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and follow directions.
