About the position

The Caregiver position in our Assisted Living community involves providing direct care assistance to residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being while supporting the community's mission and values. The role includes a variety of responsibilities such as personal care, meal assistance, and maintaining a clean environment, all while fostering positive relationships with residents and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Support the mission, vision, and culture of the organization through positive communication and leadership.
  • Contribute to Community relationships by demonstrating cooperation and professional conduct with residents, families, fellow associates, physicians, pharmacies, and other vendors or persons.
  • Contribute to team effort by being flexible in work assignments; by furnishing support; by taking initiative; and by understanding how this position affects and compliments all other Community positions.
  • Maintain work pace appropriate to given workload and perform activities on schedule while maintaining regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Provide assistance or reminders with activities of daily living, including grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, and transferring residents as needed.
  • Assist in meal preparation and presentation, serving to residents, and record changes in eating habits to the supervisor.
  • Make resident rounds every two hours as required in residents' service plans or as circumstances dictate.
  • Record and report changes in resident's condition to the supervisor, including changes in ability to perform activities of daily living.
  • Use approved charting criteria and procedures to record pertinent information in resident charts.
  • Immediately report all incidents or accidents involving residents to the Resident Care Director/Supervisor and record necessary information.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment by performing general scheduled housekeeping for residents.
  • Initiate and participate in leisure activities provided for residents; encourage socialization and participation in planned activities.
  • Follow proper procedures in emergency situations and respond promptly to resident requests for assistance.
  • Correct and prevent environmental hazards while observing universal precautions and infection control procedures.
  • Immediately report any suspected abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of resident funds or property to the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid CNA license and CPR certification.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in caregiving, particularly with elderly residents, is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Resident's rights is preferred.
