About the position

The Caregiver position at Cascade Valley Senior Living focuses on providing direct care to residents in a senior living community, particularly during the NOC shift. The role emphasizes promoting the highest level of functioning for residents while ensuring a safe and clean environment. The company is looking for individuals who are passionate about working with seniors and are willing to undergo training if they do not already have the required HCA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides personal care to residents per their individualized plan of care.
  • Documents all pertinent information regarding care as assigned.
  • Prepares residents for meals and assists them to and from the dining room.
  • Assists residents with meal setup and eating.
  • Assists residents with toilet and incontinence care.
  • Makes room checks and verifies resident location as directed by supervisor.
  • Keeps residents' apartments neat and clean.
  • Performs clinical procedures according to facility standards and scope of practice regulations.
  • Completes vital signs, blood pressure, weights, and other trained procedures as directed by management.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of facility infection control procedures.
  • Assists in turning, positioning, and repositioning residents as outlined in the resident's service plan.
  • Communicates effectively with residents, families, visitors, and members of the health care team.
  • Actively participates in the facility's Quality Assurance Program.
  • Reports elder maltreatment or elder abuse to the appropriate authorities.
  • Maintains resident confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA policies.

Requirements

  • Completion of HCA training or greater within 120 days of hire and credentialed within 200 days of hire.
  • Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and email functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • Excellent time-management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
  • First Aid certification is required.
