About the position

The Caregiver / Medication Manager position at Independence Village involves providing personalized assistance to residents in a supportive community environment. This role is essential for ensuring the well-being and comfort of residents, particularly the elderly, by assisting them with daily activities and medication management. The position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents while adhering to safety and care protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Bathe and clean residents as needed, including bed baths and showers.
  • Assist residents with personal grooming tasks such as teeth cleaning, hair care, and nail care.
  • Help residents dress appropriately and encourage them to wear suitable clothing.
  • Make beds and change linens, ensuring rooms are tidy and organized.
  • Assist residents with dining, including setting up food and providing necessary support during meals.
  • Follow medication administration protocols for each resident.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and assist residents with toileting needs.
  • Monitor and report vital signs and any changes in residents' conditions to nursing staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness of wheelchairs, walkers, and other equipment as per schedule.
  • Participate in activity programming and provide activity-based care for residents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, geriatrics, or working with the elderly population preferred.
  • Must score 85 on Skills Test.
  • Desire to work with the geriatric population is essential.
  • Training per state requirements is necessary.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Must have TB clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active CNA license for additional compensation.
  • Experience in a caregiving role.
