About the position

The Caregiver/Medication Aide at McFarland Villa plays a crucial role in supporting residents with their daily activities, ensuring their dignity and independence while providing compassionate care. This part-time position involves assisting residents with personal hygiene, socialization, and physical health, while adhering to established care plans and compliance with resident rights and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures adherence to CAPLICO Core Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains compliance with Resident Rights and HIPAA policies.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by communicating with staff and resolving problems.
  • Provides assistance for personal needs according to care plans, including toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, transport, and dining.
  • Practices patience, compassion, and empathy in interactions with residents.
  • Promotes improved quality of life through person-centered care and daily interactions.
  • Interacts respectfully with residents and family members, referring concerns to the nurse or supervisor.
  • Utilizes Standard Precautions and follows infection control procedures consistently.
  • Observes and reports changes in resident health, behavior, or needs to the supervisor promptly.
  • Reports unusual events, suspicion of abuse/neglect, and emergency situations immediately.
  • Assists residents with dining, including preparing and cleaning the dining area and serving food and beverages.
  • Promotes a pleasant dining environment and encourages social interaction among residents.
  • Completes resident laundry and cleans resident rooms and common areas as scheduled.
  • Reports maintenance needs promptly and practices safety precautions to minimize injury risks.
  • Fulfills state regulatory requirements for training and continuing education.
  • Attends designated meetings and may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in dementia care or caregiving.
  • CPR Certification and AED Certification required.
  • Understanding of resident rights and care plans.
