About the position

The Caregiver position at Carlton Senior Living involves providing essential support to residents, particularly those with memory impairments such as dementia and Alzheimer's. The role focuses on assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), offering emotional support, and ensuring a safe and dignified living environment. Caregivers are expected to work collaboratively with the care team to monitor residents' health and well-being, while also maintaining a cheerful and respectful attitude towards residents and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including continence care, showering, grooming, transfer assistance, and meal assistance.
  • Engage residents in daily recreational activities such as crafts, games, music, and exercise, encouraging their participation.
  • Ensure residents remain clean, dignified, and presentable at all times.
  • Provide emotional support and enrichment to residents.
  • Utilize a company-provided phone to access care plans and document care provided during shifts.
  • Follow care plans and document care accordingly, ensuring all records are current.
  • Observe and communicate any changes in residents' physical, emotional, or mental conditions to the Care Manager or Director of Memory Care.
  • Maintain a cooperative and cheerful attitude when interacting with residents and their guests.
  • Keep residents' rooms tidy and organized throughout the day.
  • Attend periodic staff meetings and mandatory training sessions as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school education or GED, or a combination of related experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate effectively in English.
  • Experience in caregiving is preferred but not necessary.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age according to Title 22 requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with elderly populations, particularly those with memory impairments.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
