As a member of our team, you will be responsible for administering prescribed medications to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN)/(LVN). This includes maintaining accurate medical records related to medication administration, presenting medications to patients, and observing their ingestion or administering medications according to specified procedures. You will also be tasked with taking vital signs and monitoring patients to detect their responses to medications, reporting any adverse reactions promptly. Additionally, you will help restock medication inventories and may provide direct patient care as needed. Safety is a top priority in this role. You will be responsible for identifying safety hazards and emergency situations, taking appropriate corrective actions to ensure resident safety. Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN)/(LVN).
  • Maintain related medical records for medication administration.
  • Present medication to patients and observe ingestion or administer medication using specified procedures.
  • Take vital signs or observe patients to detect response to medication and report reactions.
  • Restock medication inventories as needed.
  • Provide direct patient care when required.
  • Identify safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective action as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with medication administration.
  • Certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) or equivalent.
  • Ability to take vital signs and monitor patient responses.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining medical records and medication inventories.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in senior living or long-term care environments.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures in healthcare settings.
