About the position

Maxim Healthcare Services is seeking dedicated Companion Caregivers to provide essential services to patients and clients in their homes. This role is crucial in ensuring that individuals receive the support they need to maintain their independence and quality of life. As a Companion Caregiver, you will be responsible for delivering 'hands-off' care, which includes encouraging socialization, promoting mild exercise, and ensuring medication compliance through timely reminders. You will also supervise the safety of clients during activities such as bathing, toileting, and dressing, while assisting with grocery shopping and performing light housekeeping chores as needed. In this position, you will be expected to arrive at the client's home punctually and complete your shift as scheduled. It is vital to perform all duties accurately and in a timely manner, safeguarding the client by adhering to appropriate infection control procedures, including universal precautions. Your role will not only involve physical assistance but also emotional support, as you will be a key figure in the client's daily life, helping them navigate their routines and maintain their well-being. Responsibilities

• Provides 'hands off' care such as encouraging socialization.
• Encourages a mild exercise program.
• Encourages medication compliance through timely reminders to take medications.
• Supervises the safety of the patient/client when bathing, toileting, and dressing.
• Assists with grocery shopping and performs light housekeeping chores.
• Performs other duties as assigned/necessary.
• Arrives at the client's home on time and leaves when shift schedule is complete.
• Performs all duties in an accurate and timely manner.
• Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• One (1) year of experience as a Companion Care Homemaker/Companion Care Provider preferred.
• Ability to carry out tasks in a professional manner and adhere to policies regarding professionalism and boundaries preferred.
• Must demonstrate a compassionate nature and possess strong interpersonal skills preferred.
• Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills preferred.
• Proficiency in the English language is required.
• Computer proficiency required.
