About the position

The Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) is seeking dedicated individuals to join our caregiver/personal assistant registry. This position is ideal for those who are passionate about providing support to individuals with disabilities in east Ventura County. As a caregiver or personal assistant, you will have the unique opportunity to be your own employer, allowing you to set your own hours, determine your pay, and choose the tasks you are comfortable performing. This flexibility is designed to empower caregivers while ensuring that clients receive the personalized support they need. The ILRC matches caregivers with clients based on their specific needs, utilizing a platform called QuickMatch to facilitate efficient connections. Caregivers can work either through private pay arrangements or as In-Home Support Services (IHSS) providers. This role is not only about providing physical assistance but also about fostering independence and enhancing the quality of life for clients. Caregivers will be expected to engage with clients in a respectful and compassionate manner, ensuring their dignity and preferences are prioritized. This position offers both part-time and full-time opportunities, with a pay range of $17 to $25 per hour, depending on experience and the specific tasks performed. Caregivers will have the flexibility to choose their own hours, primarily working Monday to Friday, with the option to work weekends as needed. This role requires reliable commuting to various locations within Ventura County, CA, and candidates should be prepared to relocate if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and assistance to clients with disabilities.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Support clients in maintaining their independence and dignity.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Document care provided and report any changes in client condition to the appropriate parties.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of caregiving experience required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with In-Home Support Services (IHSS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of disability rights and advocacy.
