About the position

The Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Personal Assistant/Caregiver registry. This role is essential for providing support to residents with disabilities in north Santa Barbara County. As a caregiver or personal assistant, you will have the unique opportunity to be your own employer, allowing you to set your own hours, determine your pay, and choose the tasks you are comfortable performing. This flexibility is designed to empower caregivers while ensuring that clients receive the personalized care they need. The ILRC matches clients with caregivers through a platform called QuickMatch, which streamlines the process of connecting care seekers with suitable caregivers. This position can be either part-time or full-time, with pay ranging from $17 to $25 per hour, depending on experience and the specific needs of the clients. Caregivers will have the ability to choose their own hours, primarily working Monday to Friday, with the option to work weekends as needed. This role is ideal for individuals who have at least one year of caregiving experience and are looking for a flexible work environment that allows them to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. The position requires in-person work in Santa Maria, CA, and candidates should be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and assistance to clients with disabilities.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Support clients in maintaining their independence and quality of life.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Document care provided and report any changes in client condition to the appropriate parties.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of caregiving experience is required.
  • Ability to work in person in Santa Maria, CA.
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate demeanor.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with In-Home Support Services (IHSS) is a plus.
