About the position

As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at Right at Home, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients. In this role, you will engage in various activities that include bathing, dressing, and grooming clients, as well as providing medication reminders and assisting with prescribed exercises. You will also help clients with mobility, transferring them from one place to another within their homes. Your responsibilities will extend to performing light housekeeping tasks, preparing meals, and accompanying clients on errands or medical appointments. Companionship is a vital aspect of this role, and you will engage clients in activities such as reading, music, and puzzles to foster a supportive and enjoyable environment. Responsibilities

  • Bathing/Showering/Dressing/Shaving clients
  • Providing medication reminders
  • Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises
  • Helping clients transfer/move from place to place throughout their home
  • Providing dementia care
  • Performing housekeeping activities such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry, and cleaning the bathroom
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to instructions
  • Accompanying clients on errands or medical appointments
  • Engaging in companionship activities such as reading, music, puzzles, etc.

Requirements

  • High school degree and/or a G.E.D. certificate
  • Six months experience as a Home Health Aide (HHA) and/or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) in health care (in homes or facilities)
  • Successful completion of a State approved Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide (HHA) and/or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) course
  • Current CPR Certificate is recommended
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Valid driver's license and use of an insured automobile for work or access to adequate transportation
