About the position

As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at Right at Home, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients. You will be responsible for providing essential personal care and support to clients in their homes, ensuring they receive the assistance they need to maintain their independence and dignity. In this role, you will engage in various activities that promote the well-being of our clients. This includes assisting with daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as providing medication reminders and helping with prescribed exercises. You will also assist clients in moving around their homes and provide companionship through activities like reading, music, and puzzles. Your responsibilities will extend to performing light housekeeping tasks, preparing meals, and accompanying clients on errands or medical appointments. Responsibilities

  • Bathing/Showering/Dressing/Shaving
  • Medication reminders
  • Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises
  • Assisting with transferring/moving client from place to place throughout their home
  • Dementia care
  • Performing housekeeping activities such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning the bathroom
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to instructions
  • Accompanying client on errands or medical appointments
  • Companionship activities such as reading, music, puzzles, etc.

Requirements

  • High school degree and/or a G.E.D. certificate
  • Six months experience as a Home Health Aide (HHA) and/or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) in health care (in homes or facilities)
  • Successful completion of a State approved Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide (HHA) and/or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) course
  • Current CPR Certificate is recommended
  • Read, write, speak and understand English
  • Have a valid driver's license and use of an insured automobile for work or access to adequate transportation
