About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role at Maxim Healthcare Services involves providing essential support services to clients with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs. The PCA works under the guidance of healthcare professionals in various settings, including homes and schools, to assist clients in their daily activities and promote their independence.

Responsibilities

• Provides services to persons who need help with day-to-day activities
• Demonstrates competence in performing necessary skills as per the care plan
• Provides health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and related support services essential to the client's health
• Assists with transfers and ambulation
• Aids teachers in helping students learn and provides feedback to students and supervisors/teachers
• Performs incidental household services integral to a personal care plan
• Accompanies students on the bus to and from school when applicable
• Provides companionship by reading, listening, and talking with clients
• Assists in supervision of students during recess and lunch periods
• Implements behavior management techniques as directed by the supervisor/healthcare practitioner
• Reports changes in client status as directed by the care plan
• Maintains confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families, and employees
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Requirements

• State licensure or certification as required by state and/or program
• One (1) year relevant experience preferred
• Current BLS Card
• Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
• Knowledge of child growth and development
• Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between home, school, local health agency, and other community resources
• Strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
• Computer proficiency required
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Benefits

• Hourly base pay ranging from $16.00 to $20.00
