About the position
The Caregiver PRN position at Garden Estates of Temple involves providing routine daily nursing care and support services to residents requiring long-term or rehabilitative care. The role is primarily scheduled for the 2pm-10pm shift but offers flexibility to pick up additional shifts as needed. Caregivers are expected to assist residents with daily routines, report observations, and maintain a professional demeanor while ensuring the safety and comfort of the residents.
Responsibilities
- Assists residents with daily routines and personal care tasks.
- Reports observations and pertinent information related to resident care.
- Provides support services in accordance with care plans and nursing procedures.
- Participates in identifying staff educational needs and contributes to care standards.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety in residents' rooms, including changing linens as necessary.
- Encourages and assists residents in participating in activities and documents their participation.
- Responds promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance.
- Assists with dietary responsibilities, including serving meals and cleaning the meal area.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident care information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Executive Director.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous Nursing Assistant experience or student nurse preferred.
- Completion of a certification program for Nursing Assistants preferred.
- Experience working with the elderly is desirable.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write in English.
- Certification in CPR and first aid training is required.
- Documentation of Personal Hygiene training with a nurse instructor is required.
Nice-to-haves
