About the position

The Resident Assistant (RA) at BrightStar Senior Living provides essential support to residents in assisted living and memory care settings. This role focuses on assisting residents with daily nursing care, personal needs, and promoting their overall well-being. The RA is responsible for ensuring a safe environment, administering medications under supervision, and documenting residents' health and care needs. This position requires compassion, strong communication skills, and the ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with routine daily nursing care and services according to their assessment and care plan.
  • Provide assistance with medical, clinical, personal care, household, recreational, social, dining, and transport/transfer/mobility needs.
  • Take and record vital signs and chart pertinent information in the resident's medical record as directed.
  • Assist in the administration of medications under the direction and supervision of the nurse.
  • Observe and document the health, condition, and eating habits of each resident, promptly reporting any changes to the nurse.
  • Promote personal safety and a safe environment for residents.
  • Use and maintain equipment and supplies appropriately, ensuring proper inventory of individual resident care items and supplies.
  • Compassionately assist with end-of-life care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid state nursing assistant certification (CNA).
  • One (1)+ year experience in a similar role, preferably in Long Term Care, Assisted Living, or Memory Care community.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in English.
  • Caring and compassionate disposition.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and transporting residents.
