About the position
New Haven Assisted Living is seeking motivated individuals to join our caregiving team. The role of a caregiver is essential to our community, as caregivers assist residents with daily living activities and promote their well-being. Responsibilities
- Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring.
- Encourages residents to perform as much of their own care as possible.
- Serves meals to residents and assists in meal preparation according to preplanned menus.
- Encourages residents to maintain a proper diet and hydration, while respecting their choices.
- Initiates and participates in leisure activities and encourages socialization among residents.
- Maintains daily records for residents, documenting medication distribution, activities, and any changes in condition.
- Assists residents with medication administration as per policies and procedures.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment for residents, performing general housekeeping duties.
- Responds promptly to emergency situations and resident requests for assistance.
- Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- CPR/FA certification within 6-12 months of hire.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional or personal experience supporting individuals with disabilities or mental illnesses.
- Reliable transportation.
- Must be over 18 years old.
- Ability to complete infection control training and have no communicable diseases.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
