About the position

Visiting Angels is seeking compassionate caregivers to join our team in Elkton, MD. The role involves providing personal care and support to clients in their homes, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Caregivers will assist with daily living activities, maintain a clean environment, and engage in respectful social interactions with clients.

Responsibilities

• Understand and adhere to information and precautions contained in individual client's Care Plan.
• Assist the client with personal care activities including bathing, skin care, grooming, and dressing.
• Assist the client to the bathroom or in use of urinal or bedpan.
• Keep incontinent clients clean and dry.
• Assist the client with self-administration of medications.
• Prepare appropriate documentation of the client care or service(s) furnished.
• Report all client and employee incidents/accidents to supervisor immediately.
• Assist the client with supervising exercise, ambulation, and transfer activities.
• Ensure maintenance of a clean, safe, comfortable, and healthy environment for the client.
• Observe safety precautions and report hazards to supervisor.
• Engage in respectful social interaction with clients, including friendly conversation and empathic support.
• Exhibit positive attitude and behavior, maintaining confidentiality of all information.
• Respond and attend to client's requests promptly.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the team.
• Maintain proper hand washing techniques.
• Participate in required in-service training programs.
• Accept and fulfill assignments with the Agency.

Requirements

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
• Valid CNA license or Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
• Previous experience in private duty home care preferred.
• Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently, and diplomatically orally and in writing.
• Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm, and maintain a sense of humor.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to client service excellence.
• Possess and maintain good physical and mental health, including current TB testing.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in organizational skills.
• Ability to generate goodwill for the organization among staff, clients, and referral sources.
