Cargo Handler

About the position

The Cargo Handler position at Forward Air involves working in a fast-paced shipping and dock operation, focusing on the safe and timely loading and unloading of freight. This role requires physical strength and the ability to operate machinery, ensuring that freight is handled efficiently and accurately within the distribution network.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload 53 ft. commercial trailers and operate scanners.
• Use handheld scanners to track and maneuver freight through the distribution network.
• Accurately label boxes and prepare freight for shipment.
• Safely load and unload trailers using equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
• Obtain certification and safely operate forklifts and other machinery as required.
• Verify documentation and condition of freight to meet quality standards.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to ninety (90) pounds.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
