About the position

The Cargo Scheduler position within the Department of the Air Force is primarily responsible for serving as an aircraft load planner, scheduler, and inspector. This role involves independently selecting cargo and pre-planning for its control and timely movement through the aerial port to various foreign and domestic destinations. The position requires a strong understanding of cargo movement, inspection processes, and the ability to coordinate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Program the movement of all cargo, including special cargo involving dangerous/hazardous materials.
• Review daily flying schedules for forecasted missions with a focus on routings and capability forecast worksheets.
• Inspect cargo pallets for weight or piece discrepancies and suitability for military or commercial aircraft.
• Assist the flight chief by performing various related support duties involving load planning and inspection activities.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must be registered for Selective Service (for males).
• One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent.
• Knowledge of transportation rules, procedures, and operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a flight line test.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of the DoD Air Transportation system and Air Terminal Operations.
• Experience with hazardous and/or explosive cargo movement procedures.
• Familiarity with computer systems such as Cargo Movement Operations System (CMOS) and GATES.
