About the position

The Process Maintenance and Engineering Manager at Barrick Gold Corporation's Carlin operations is responsible for leading the Process Division to ensure safe employee behaviors and environmental compliance. This role involves overseeing maintenance, engineering, and operational excellence across various processing facilities, while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Process Division to maintain safe employee behaviors and environmental compliance.
  • Oversee maintenance, engineering, and operational excellence across Carlin Processing Facilities.
  • Perform maintenance governance for Carlin Processing.
  • Integrate safe operational targets and maintenance plans at all levels of the business.
  • Act as the Carlin Processing Champion for Material Risks and Insurance Audits.
  • Ensure Fatal Risk Management controls are embedded within the management team.
  • Custodian of the defect elimination process.
  • Mentor and guide plant managers, especially those with non-maintenance backgrounds.
  • Provide coaching and development services to mechanical and electrical superintendents.
  • Continuously improve asset management structures, systems, and compliance.
  • Optimize outage/shutdown processes and improvements.
  • Drive innovation within operations and maintenance.
  • Manage maintenance LOM budgeting and improve cost control and reporting.
  • Implement improvement initiatives through Carlin, NGM, and industry benchmarking.
  • Oversee various Processing central services to allocate resources according to business priorities.
  • Govern Autoclave Process Safety.
  • Serve as coverage for Carlin Processing Manager or plant manager roles as needed.
  • Direct leadership of Engineering, Small Capital Projects, Process Control, Operational Technology, and Reliability functions.
  • Create a culture where maintenance focuses on Gold Production as the primary KPI and operations prioritize reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive operational/management experience, with at least 5 years in Process operations.
  • Previous experience in mines of similar size and technical scope to Carlin is preferred.
  • Proven success in leading a strong culture of process safety.
  • Ability to establish, communicate, and measure results regarding safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop strong teams and positive relationships with a diverse workforce.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills directed towards team development.
  • Ability to prepare and present reports accurately to all organizational levels.
  • Proven success in implementing and managing change processes.
  • Exemplary safety, performance, and attendance record.
  • Proactive focus on talent assessment and career development for key Process staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and control internal and external projects.
  • Sound business judgment and knowledge of financial and accounting functions.
