About the position

The Process Maintenance and Engineering Manager at Barrick Gold Corporation's Carlin operations is responsible for leading the Process Division to ensure safe employee behaviors and environmental compliance. This role involves overseeing maintenance, engineering, and operational excellence across various processing facilities, while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Process Division to maintain safe employee behaviors and environmental compliance.
• Oversee maintenance, engineering, and operational excellence across Carlin Processing Facilities.
• Perform maintenance governance for Carlin Processing.
• Integrate safe operational targets and maintenance plans at all levels of the business.
• Act as the Carlin Processing Champion for Material Risks and Insurance Audits.
• Ensure Fatal Risk Management controls are embedded within the management team.
• Custodian of the defect elimination process.
• Mentor and guide plant managers, especially those with non-maintenance backgrounds.
• Provide coaching and development services to mechanical and electrical superintendents.
• Continuously improve asset management structures, systems, and compliance.
• Optimize and improve outage/shutdown processes.
• Drive innovation within operations and maintenance.
• Manage maintenance LOM budgeting and improve cost control and reporting.
• Implement improvement initiatives through Carlin, NGM, and industry benchmarking.
• Oversee Processing central services to allocate resources according to business priorities.
• Govern Autoclave Process Safety.
• Serve as coverage for Carlin Processing Manager or plant manager roles as needed.
• Direct leadership of engineering, small capital projects, process control, operational technology, and reliability functions.
• Create a culture where maintenance focuses on Gold Production as the primary KPI and operations prioritize reliability.

Requirements

• Proven experience in maintenance and engineering management within the mining or processing industry.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop teams.
• Experience in operational excellence and safety governance.
• Knowledge of maintenance governance and defect elimination processes.
• Ability to manage budgets and improve cost control.

• Experience with gold processing facilities or similar operations.
• Familiarity with environmental compliance regulations in mining.
