About the position

The Open Pit Mine Engineer I/II position at Barrick Gold involves developing and communicating engineering plans and ensuring their safe and efficient execution at the Carlin operation. The role is integral to the mining operations, focusing on short-range and long-range planning, dump planning, and road design, while maintaining a commitment to safety and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Assign duties in short-range planning, long-range planning, dump planning, road design, and dispatch engineering.
  • Develop and communicate engineering plans, sequences, and dumping priorities to operations and stakeholders.
  • Assist in end-of-month reporting for leach pad deliveries and other regulatory reporting.
  • Work closely with the mine operations team to execute designs and plans safely and efficiently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • One (1) to eight (8) years' experience in open pit engineering preferred.
  • Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership required.
  • Team leadership, problem solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods required.
  • Ability to cross-train within the mining engineering group required.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required.
