About the position
The Open Pit Mine Engineer I/II position at Nevada Gold Mines involves developing and communicating engineering plans and ensuring their safe and efficient execution at the Carlin operation. The role emphasizes collaboration with mine operations and stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Assign duties in short-range and long-range planning, dump planning, road design, and dispatch engineering within the Cortez Engineering group.
- Develop and communicate engineering plans, sequences, and dumping priorities to operations and stakeholders, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
- Assist in end-of-month reporting for leach pad deliveries and other regulatory reporting as necessary.
- Work closely with the mine operations team to execute designs and plans safely and efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or related field or equivalent experience required.
- One (1) to eight (8) years' experience in open pit engineering preferred.
- Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership required.
- Team leadership, problem solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods of time required.
- Ability to cross-train within the mining engineering group required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required.
