About the position

The Safety & Health Underground Trainer at Nevada Gold Mines is responsible for developing and implementing training programs to ensure safe and responsible mining operations. This role involves engaging with various stakeholders, maintaining compliance with safety regulations, and facilitating training for employees to enhance their skills and knowledge in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for competency.
• Maintain site compliance to ensure employees have the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitude for safe operations.
• Create and maintain accurate training records in accordance with MSHA regulations.
• Conduct observations in collaboration with operating departments.
• Develop training courses based on site needs and maintain training records.
• Audit and review training courses and materials for continuous improvement.
• Assist in the implementation of a Competency Based Training system.
• Facilitate new miner, experienced miner, hazard, site, and task-specific training courses as needed.
• Participate in alignment of site initiatives or mandates.

Requirements

• Five years of experience in mining, construction, or heavy equipment industry preferred.
• Proven experience working with peer groups and focus teams required.
• Ability to drive results and ensure completion of time-sensitive deadlines required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Excellent leadership skills and knowledge of influencing others required.
• Ability to promote safety in training and lead by example required.
• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred.
• Proven safe work record required.
