About the position

The School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for the Bachelor of Architecture Program for the academic year 2024-2025. This role involves teaching upper-level architectural design studios and a seminar, focusing on integrated design and construction. The instructor will work collaboratively with full-time faculty and engage in comprehensive studio sessions that are critical to the students' educational experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach studio sessions every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:00 - 4:50 PM.
  • Meet with the studio coordinator prior to the semester and weekly during the semester.
  • Attend all scheduled studio reviews.
  • Conduct mid-semester and end-of-semester individual conferences with students.
  • Participate in mid-semester and end-of-semester grade meetings.
  • Provide written comments for each student to the coordinator.

Requirements

  • A terminal degree in Architecture (e.g., Bachelor and/or Master of Architecture).
  • At least 5 years of professional practice experience in architectural design.
  • Architecture Licensure.
  • University-level teaching experience, either full-time, adjunct, or visiting scholar, at the undergraduate or graduate levels.
