About the position

The CWC Client Advocate - Weekend will support NSO's Transitional Housing Program at the Carolyn Williams Center for young men aged 18-23. This role focuses on assisting residents in achieving personal and financial self-sufficiency by addressing barriers to self-sufficiency, with a primary goal of helping clients secure permanent housing and develop essential life skills to prevent future homelessness. The advocate will create a supportive environment that emphasizes safety, structure, crisis intervention, advocacy, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the creation and implementation of individual case plans for clients' self-sufficiency and success.
  • Collect supplementary information needed to assist clients, such as employment records and medical reports.
  • Maintain complete and current documentation regarding client progress and concerns in C-Trax and HMIS.
  • Provide referrals and assist clients with access to community or government resources.
  • Model and assist clients with learning basic life skills needed for independent living.
  • Assist with planning and teaching Life Skills classes for clients.
  • Oversee daily activities in the Center, ensuring safety and adherence to program rules.
  • Ensure timely notification and correspondence with all residents and volunteers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all clients.
  • Complete required statistics for weekly and monthly capacity reports.
  • Build collateral contacts to increase the number of clients and quality of services provided.
  • Participate in case coordination during team meetings and communicate concerns with housing leadership.
  • Promote organizational goals through tours and presentations.
  • Conduct daily property inspections and report maintenance work orders.
  • Work with clients and staff to maintain safety and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Maintain the food and supplies in the pantry.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Social Work or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of successful experience in adult case management or aide/assistance preferred.
  • Ability to work weekends required.
  • Clear, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer literacy skills.
  • Service-oriented, patient, and non-judgmental attitude.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to actively listen and possess social perception skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
