East Stroudsburg University (ESU) is seeking a Carpenter 1 to join its Facilities Management team. This position is located in the picturesque Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, providing a unique opportunity to work in a region known for its natural beauty and recreational activities. The Carpenter 1 will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the university's facilities by performing skilled carpentry work and collaborating closely with the Building Maintenance Foreman. The ideal candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic, ensuring high-quality independent work while utilizing various tools and techniques in carpentry and electrical assignments. In this role, the Carpenter 1 will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including the removal of damaged materials and full demolition of existing structures. The position requires a hands-on approach to carpentry, with responsibilities that include repairing and installing screening doors, windows, and flooring, as well as constructing and repairing furniture and athletic equipment. The Carpenter 1 will also be tasked with reading and interpreting construction blueprints, performing drywall construction, and repairing roofs using available materials. The work environment is dynamic, and the Carpenter 1 will need to adapt to the needs of the business, which may require flexible scheduling beyond the standard Monday to Friday hours of 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The Carpenter 1 will be an integral part of the Facilities Management team, contributing to the overall success of ESU operations.
