About the position

Jones Design and Build, LLC is seeking a dedicated Carpenter/Construction Laborer to join our growing team in Eugene, OR. As an established independent contracting business, we specialize in a wide range of construction services, including new construction, custom home designs, remodels, and additions for both residential and commercial projects. The Carpenter/Construction Laborer will play a crucial role in supporting the construction of our company's developments. The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively in a team environment, follow directions from project managers and supervisors, and perform a variety of tasks essential to the construction process. This position offers an hourly pay rate of $20.00 to $25.00, depending on experience level, and requires a commitment to working Monday through Friday during the day shift. Key responsibilities include assisting with the installation of construction materials such as scaffolding and concrete forms, lifting heavy materials, operating machinery, and using hand tools and power equipment. The role also involves digging trenches, loading and unloading building materials, cleaning the construction site, and performing basic carpentry tasks. Candidates should possess physical stamina and strength to handle manual labor tasks in various weather conditions, and must have appropriate outdoor work gear. Previous experience in construction is preferred but not mandatory, as we value a willingness to learn and grow within our team.

Responsibilities

  • Help with the installation of construction materials, such as scaffolding, concrete forms, and temporary structures.
  • Lift heavy materials and operate machinery, using hand tools and power equipment.
  • Dig trenches and backfill holes to prepare for the construction site.
  • Follow instructions from construction project managers and supervisors.
  • Load and unload building materials.
  • Clean the construction site by removing hazardous materials and debris from the worksite.
  • Assist other workers such as carpenters or electricians with their duties, as needed.
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks, such as measuring and cutting materials.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Must have knowledgeable math skills.
  • Previous experience in construction or a related field is beneficial, but not required.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Must have physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Working in all weather conditions is required.
  • Must have appropriate outdoor work gear.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in woodworking is a plus.
  • 1 year of experience on a construction site is preferred.
