About the position

The Carpenter Lead Worker is responsible for performing and overseeing tasks related to the construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials within university facilities and construction projects. This role may involve supervising job sites, university employees, and contracted or temporary workers, requiring extensive knowledge of skilled carpentry and commercial construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee tasks related to constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures.
• Supervise job site(s) and manage university employees or contracted/temp workers as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable building codes.
• Maintain quality control and cost control on projects.
• Utilize extensive knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.

Requirements

• High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required.
• Three years of progressively responsible commercial/remodeling carpentry work experience required.
• Extensive knowledge of skilled carpentry, commercial construction, and remodeling trades.

Nice-to-haves

• Five years of progressively responsible commercial/remodeling carpentry work experience, with two years at the lead carpenter level.
