About the position

The Carpenter role at ASRC Federal supports the Installation Support Services (ISS2) contract at Eareckson Air Station (EAS) in Shemya, Alaska. The position involves performing general carpentry tasks and various duties necessary for the maintenance, repair, and upgrading of facilities, structures, and utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all types of rough and finish carpentry inside and outside of buildings.
  • Construct, repair, modify, and maintain housing, commercial, and industrial buildings.
  • Maintain, repair, and replace doors, woodwork, paneling, drywall, floor covering, and broken windows.
  • Install, repair, modify, and open various locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults.
  • Examine locking mechanisms, install new units or disassemble units, and replace worn parts or repair them.
  • Open door locks by moving lock picks or open safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling.
  • Use a vital cutting machine to make new or duplicate keys, maintaining a crucial control log book.
  • Maintain keying systems for buildings.
  • Measure, lay out, or machine cuts wood, tile, plastics, and other materials.
  • Use various hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
  • Use blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal instructions to plan and layout work.
  • Assist other trades and craft personnel in their daily operations.
  • Perform snow removal duties as needed.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of journeyman-level carpentry experience.
  • Current Locksmith Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain an interim security clearance and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of formal apprenticeship program.
  • Journeyman Carpenter Certification.
