About the position

The Carpenter Wood Door position involves modifying architectural grade wood doors to accommodate hardware applications while adhering to industry standards. The role requires operating various fabricating machines, inspecting raw materials, and ensuring the quality of finished products. The carpenter will also be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment and assisting in inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot fabricating machines such as saws, drill presses, and routers.
• Determine product specifications and materials based on instructions or drawings.
• Examine raw wood stock for defects and ensure conformity to specifications.
• Adjust machine tables and set controls to produce specified cuts or operations.
• Trim wood parts using planes, chisels, and sanders according to specifications.
• Inspect and mark completed work pieces for quality and conformity to specifications.
• Attach parts and subassemblies to form completed units using various fastening methods.
• Assist shipping and receiving personnel with inventory management.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine maintenance needs.
• Install and hang frames and doors, including hardware in the field as needed.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the wood shop and warehouse.
• Assist with various tasks in the wood door shop as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in woodworking with related products.
• Current and valid US driver's license preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of architectural door materials and hardware.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations quickly and correctly.
• Strong manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
