Carpenter

About the position

The Carpenter position at the City of Natchitoches Housing Authority involves performing carpentry construction, repairs, and remodeling in accordance with standard practices. This role is classified as experienced and does not involve supervisory duties. The carpenter will work on various projects related to the maintenance and alteration of buildings and structures.

Responsibilities

• Perform general carpentry work involved with the repair, alteration, or maintenance of buildings and all related structures.
• Build or repair shelves, cabinets, windows, furniture, concrete forms, trim, ceilings, and partitions.
• Construct simple structures such as tool sheds, house frames, toolboxes, and outbuildings.
• Fit, cut, and fasten all types of wall covering (paneling, sheet rock, plywood, etc.).
• Direct and train assigned helpers and apprentices.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in the carpentry trade.
• Training in the carpentry trade can substitute for the required experience on a month-for-month basis.
