The operation of woodworking machinery such as sanders, planers, lathes, power saws, and joiners is also a critical aspect of the job, along with laying acoustical tile and linoleum. Requirements

  • Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship program for carpenters or equivalent training
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of wooden structures
  • Knowledge of the quality of woods and their uses and adaptability
  • Knowledge of methods and tools used in forming metal partitions
  • Ability to operate common woodworking equipment
  • Ability to make a variety of repairs to wooden and metal structures and objects
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches
