About the position

The Carpenter position at Robins & Morton involves constructing, repairing, and maintaining both permanent and temporary structures. The role requires collaboration with a team that values ethical practices and work-life balance, while delivering high-quality work on various construction projects. The Carpenter will utilize hand and power tools under the guidance of a jobsite manager, ensuring safety and precision in all tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately take off material quantities for projects.
  • Build square, level, and plumb specific project tasks using basic carpentry tools.
  • Construct safety provisions such as scaffolding, gang ladders, and fall protection.
  • Install interior finish items including wall protection, doors, hardware, and toilet accessories.
  • Safely use various carpentry tools such as saws and drills.
  • Identify and request necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) before starting tasks.
  • Operate basic equipment like forklifts and skid steers as needed.
  • Cut and install interior/exterior wood and metal backing as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in carpentry required, including hanging and taping.
  • Previous experience in hospital construction preferred.
  • 2-5 years' experience installing building specialties, cabinets, windows, countertops, and commercial doors, frames, and hardware.
  • NCCER Training/Certification preferred.
  • Ability to read construction documents and execute tasks based on those documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare construction projects.
  • Familiarity with Division 10 items.
