About the position

The Carpenter at White Plains Hospital is responsible for constructing and maintaining various structural components, including ceilings, doors, woodwork, furniture, and fixtures. This role requires a high degree of mechanical expertise and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to performance standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, inspects, tests, and repairs systems according to local and state regulations.
• Uses standard carpentry hand and power tools to cut and fashion parts for furniture and structural assemblies.
• Measures, saws, squares, sands, nails, and performs other activities to construct or repair various structures.
• Repairs and inspects locks and door devices, maintaining fire door equipment.
• Builds special equipment using materials such as Corian and Formica.
• Calculates and requisitions necessary materials for carpentry projects.
• Maintains hospital key systems, including repairs and replacements of locks and keys.
• Coordinates and manages service calls with vendors.
• Attends meetings as required and assists in snow removal as needed.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years carpentry experience.
• High degree of mechanical expertise.
• Associated Locksmiths of America Certification.
• Valid, clean driver's license.
