About the position

The Carpenter position at Lifespan involves designing, constructing, installing, and repairing wooden fixtures and structures. The role requires performing both finish and rough carpentry duties, as well as installing various materials and equipment. The carpenter will work under general supervision and is expected to follow work orders, blueprints, and sketches to complete tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

• Receives work orders, oral instructions, and reads blueprints or rough sketches to determine procedures for designing, constructing, repairing, or installing items.
• Measures and cuts materials to prescribed dimensions using hand and power saws.
• Repairs or rebuilds furniture, cabinets, partitions, and other wooden objects.
• Constructs new wooden furniture and equipment, including cabinets that fit specific areas, medical exhibits, shelving, and crates.
• Installs Formica on countertops, door frames, and doors, as well as weather-stripping, vinyl floors, and ceramic tiles.
• Constructs wooden frames and pours concrete for walkways and floors.
• Performs duties such as installation of window shades and drapery rods, hanging picture frames, constructing sign holders, and installing locks.
• Erects drywall partitions and suspended ceilings.

Requirements

• Completion of High School or Vocational School.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and sketches.
• Ability to use and operate electrical equipment such as saws and drills.
• Some construction carpentry experience preferred.
