The Carpentry Craftsperson position at Tulsa Public Schools is designed for individuals who possess a skill level greater than that of a helper or laborer, yet less than a lead carpenter. This role is essential in ensuring that all assigned work orders are completed efficiently and effectively. The carpenter will be responsible for a variety of tasks including hanging doors, measuring and marking materials for cutting, and utilizing both hand and power tools to cut and drill wood and other materials. It is crucial for the carpenter to report labor, costs, and any relevant notes or information regarding all assigned work orders back to the foreperson on a daily basis. This position requires a proactive approach to completing tasks and a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship. In addition to the technical skills required, the carpenter must also possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license and have a general knowledge of carpentry equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite is necessary for documentation and communication purposes. The ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred, which can enhance interactions within the diverse community of Tulsa Public Schools. The physical demands of the job include the ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, occasionally lift more than 50 lbs with assistance, and climb ladders and scaffolds as needed.
