About the position

The Carpentry Craftsperson position at Tulsa Public Schools is designed for individuals who possess a skill level greater than that of a helper or laborer, yet less than a lead carpenter. This role is essential in ensuring that various carpentry tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. The primary responsibilities include hanging doors, measuring and marking materials for cutting, and utilizing both hand and power tools to cut and drill wood and other materials. The craftsperson will be expected to complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner, reporting labor, costs, and any relevant notes or information regarding the work completed back to the foreperson on a daily basis. In this role, the carpenter will work independently, demonstrating a self-starter attitude and a high level of motivation. The position requires the ability to relate well to management staff and other employees, as well as the capability to work without direct supervision. The craftsperson must also be willing to learn all phases of job-related activities and be skilled in operating all types of equipment assigned to the department, including craft-associated equipment. The physical demands of the job include lifting materials that may exceed 50 pounds and climbing ladders and scaffolds as necessary. Responsibilities

  • Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Hang doors and measure materials for cutting.
  • Cut and drill wood and other materials using hand and power tools.
  • Report labor, costs, and pertinent notes regarding all assigned work orders to the foreperson daily.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in all phases of construction.
  • General knowledge and/or experience in all areas of carpentry equipment.
  • Ability to lift materials that may exceed 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds.
