About the position

The Carpet Weaver is responsible for operating looms to weave carpeting with various designs. This role involves technical skills to manage the weaving process, troubleshoot issues, and meet production goals set by management. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work with both manual and computerized loom technologies.

Responsibilities

• Operate one or more looms equipped with pile-wire mechanism to weave carpeting.
• Move lever to open shed and insert specified number of pile wires through shed in sequence.
• Force cop of filling into shuttle and insert shuttle into loom.
• Place wax in holder to lubricate pile wires as they enter and are withdrawn from the shed.
• Start loom and observe weaving to detect exhausted filling packages, miss picks, and irregular cutting of pile.
• Replace exhausted filling, insert pile wires into missed loops, and replace dull cutting blade.
• Meet production goals set by management.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalency certificate (GED).
• Good practical ability.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
• Ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to understand the computerized technology of certain looms.
