About the position

This position with the Department of Homeland Security, specifically within U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Facilities and Asset Management, focuses on applying analytical processes to enhance information systems that support the organization's operational and administrative programs. The role involves developing guidance and policies for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) operations, ensuring the provision of accurate geospatial information, and managing the integration of the IBM TRIRIGA system with the CBP eGIS Program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop overall guidance, goals, objectives, plans, policies, standards, and procedures for OFAM in support of GIS operations and programs.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and relevant geospatial information is provided.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with IBM TRIRIGA users for spatial analysis.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with management officials and representatives of other CBP and DHS organizations.
  • Manage the integration of the IBM TRIRIGA system with the CBP eGIS Program, leveraging the ESRI ArcGIS platform.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required to apply for this position.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years is required.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
  • Degree in Cartography or related field with at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science and mathematics, or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) ArcGIS platform.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop tailored GIS solutions.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining geospatial databases.

Benefits

  • Salary range from $104,356.00 to $135,667.00 based on GS-13 level.
